Youth Legislature

This is your opportunity to make your voice heard. You will be able to write a bill that you feel strongly about, you will be able to present it for legislation during the conference AND you will be able to debate the bill in an attempt to make it a law.

At Youth Legislature, students attend a three-day conference as Senators, House Representatives, officials, members of the judicial system, or as press representatives. Throughout their stay in Baton Rouge, the 550- plus students assume specific roles and act out mock legislation or mock trial.

This program also introduces students to all aspects of the legislation process including electing a Governor, Lt. Governor, Speaker of the House, President of the Senate, and a PDT Presiding Officer.
